Bernie Hays and MO State Representative James Morris (D-58th District) will interview GenoMed’s CEO, Dr. David Moskowitz, about healthcare reform on their morning talk show on WGNU, AM 920, on Monday, August 17th from 7 till 8 am CDT.
The discussion will focus on both the public and the private sectors’ reluctance to innovate, which is responsible for the rampant inflation in healthcare cost and stagnation in patient outcomes. At the current rate, it is possible that nobody will have health insurance by 2017.
The solution is surprisingly simple, and conservative: leave both public and private sectors in place. Mandate reporting of outcomes, and make them detailed and transparent. Encourage competition on outcomes, and let patients vote with their feet. Use a combined public/private sector approach to cover the 50 million uninsured.
GenoMed’s CEO, David Moskowitz MD FACP, came to St. Louis from Harvard Medical School in 1980. In 1993, while at the St. Louis VA hospital as a St. Louis University faculty member, Dr. Moskowitz developed a method to arrest early-stage kidney failure due to diabetes or high blood pressure. His method is safe and was published in a peer-reviewed medical journal in 2002. Preventing 90% of dialysis would save Medicare $35 billion a year, or 10% of the entire Medicare budget.
